Playing at the World's End

An Oral History of Play and Games in Chelsea

Working with Age UK Kensington and Chelsea and Servite Primary School, an intergenerational project was formed to explore how children's play has changed in the area over the years.

Maggie Tyler ran a reminiscence group with the older people while the children researched their subject through a visit to Pollocks Toy Museum. Both groups visited the V&A Museum of Childhood in Bethnal Green and undeetook activities put on by the museum.

The film uses interviews undertaken by the children to show how play and games have changed over the years both by those who grew up in the area and those who moved to it from other places both home and abroad.
