digital:works are working with The Asian Health Agency, The Monitoring Group and a group of young people to make a documentary film about the establishment of the Southall Youth Movement in the late 70s and early 80s to fight fascism and discrimination by the police as well as developing their own community groups and networks.

Training in research and oral history techniques as well as practical work around camera, sound, lighting and interviewing is taking place. Interviews start late February 2014 with a launch screening pencilled in for May 2014.

There will be more details here later but meanwhile the project’s main online presence will be at Southall Inspires.
